In September, a delegation from VIA University College travelled to Changzhou to meet with VIA's long-time partner Changzhou Institute of Technology (CIT) and participate in Changzhou Animation Festival.
The visit was a great success.
"VIA and CIT has been partners for 12 years. Together, we have developed two double-degrees and a number of exchange activities. This time, we looked at expanding our collaboration to include our fashion, film and transmedia programme," says Peter Friese, pro-rector for VIA University College and head of the Danish delegation.
The VIA delegation met with President of CIT Mr. Li Wenhu and a number of other representatives. The two institutions talked about their double degrees in social education and civil engineering as well as the collaboration within architectural technology and construction management.
A new focus on film and fashion
Although all academic areas were discussed, the Fashion, Film & Transmedia semester - which is part of VIA's bachelor-degree in Multiplatform Storytelling & Production - was a focus area this time.
"Our film and transmedia programme is very young, but already has attracted great attention from international partners and the film and media industry. We believe the programme is attractive for students and faculty at CIT as well," says Peter Friese.
VIA-director spoke at animation festival
During the visit in Changzhou, the director of VIA's film and media programmes, Louis Thonsgaard, spoke at the opening of the city's Animation Festival.
Louis Thonsgaard held a presentation for a VIP-audience, which included chief executives from Microsoft, Disney, Tencent and others.
VIA's academic programmes in character animation, film and transmedia were presented at the festival. And a number of Chinese media reports talked about the Danish programmes.
