  • Content

Through inspiration and excursions, VIA Design will introduce you to the main aspects of Scandinavian Fashion Design. Case studies, lectures and hands-on projects will guide you through the process and help you understand how Danish fashion design has developed over the years, honouring the traditions of minimalism and craftsmanship. It will inspire you to develop your own design skills in another context and introduce you to a new network.

Visiting Copenhagen Fashion Week and major fashion brands in Denmark is, of course, part of the programme. You will also visit the Design Museum Denmark in Copenhagen, The Danish Textile Museum and HEART Museum in Herning. Their exhibitions, archives, libraries and collections are an essential part of Denmark’s design and art heritage and an important source of inspiration for future designers.

    Teaching style
The programme will be a combination of group work, individual exercises, lectures and workshops where you will learn how to develop a fashion concept and how to sketch. You will also acquire knowledge of idea generation methods, develop a line-up and prepare a final presentation in the form of a portfolio

    Student participation
The summer school has a high level of student involvement and includes group work, individual exercises, lectures and workshops.

    Lecturers
Professionals from the fashion industry will be part of the team of lecturers teaching the course.
