  • Career guidance

With an AP degree specialising in Pattern Design, you have the opportunity to work as an assistant to a pattern designer.

In a design team, it is the pattern designer who gives the garment form. Your job is to assist the pattern designer in developing measurement charts and workshop drawings. This is an important part of the preliminary work before the collection is put into production. An assistant must also check the quality of the collection and production samples.

Many AP degree graduates choose to follow a BA top-up programme, which offers access to a wider range of career prospects.

    Further education

Most students choose to take a top-up bachelor’s degree in Design & Business, which allows for a more nuanced job function with greater responsibility. You can take the BA top-up at VIA or at another educational institution.
