The Nature in Social Education programme focuses on how children can benefit from experiencing nature and physical surroundings, and how outdoor activities can support personal development and learning and promote interest in nature and environmental issues.
During the programme, you will develop capabilities in reflecting on social education theories and carrying out social education work along with implementing nature and outdoor activities as a method in social education work.
The programme is concerned with four different areas:
- Theories and methodology of Danish social education
- Nature and outdoor activities, methods and research
- Reflections on the relationship between humans and nature
- Placement and observation in social education institutions
Theory and practice
The programme offers the opportunity for you to both gain theoretical knowledge about the importance of nature and outdoor environments in social education work. And about the global and local development of welfare systems, society and the social, historical, institutional and professional context for social education work.
You will also get to use these new techniques during your placement at an institution concerned with social education practice.
