Biofilms and biocorrosion

In recent years, it has been discovered that naturally occurring bacteria in biofilms can interact positively in water pipes for distribution of water of high quality. Using natural bioactive compounds from plants offers a lot of benefits to consumers, industry, and the environment. For example, we can stimulate the protective effects of probiotic bacteria in drinking water pipes or use plant extracts and natural anti-fouling compounds to suppress biocorrosion in oil pipes.
