    Subject: Animating Sustainable Development Goals

    Duration: 2 weeks

    Academic level: Bachelor level

    Prerequisites: None

    Maximum enrolment: Maximum 20 participants. If there are more eligible applicants than available places, they will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis.

    Housing: Accommodation is 15 US$ pr. day including three meals.

    The summer school gives you concrete tools to working with communication in a collaborative and engaging way

    Target group and aim

    Do you want to learn to communicate complex issues in a fun and simple way?

    Do you want to be able to get your message through to your target group?

    Are you a student with passion for communication and interest in global development issues and social change?

    Are you a practitioner working with global issues in a non-governmental organisation or civil society organisations, educational institutions or a private company? 

    Do you want to meet, socialise and exchange ideas with people from other countries and cultures?



    The summer school “Animating sustainable development goals” gives you concrete tools to working with communication in a collaborative and engaging way. Taking a point of departure in real life challenges such children’s rights, gender issues and environmental problems, we explore how animation is used as an analysing approach and a powerful tool to get your message through. No matter what yourbackground is or drawing skills you can participate and after two weeks, end up with a short animated film that you can use to clarify and communicate your cause.

    You will meet three dedicated educators and practitioners from Denmark and Tanzania. VIA University College educates top students for the animation and film industries globally and work with social responsibility through development work in the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals worldwide.

    Ubongo Kids is Africa's leading producer of kids' edutainment. As a non-profit social enterprise, they create fun, localized and multi-platform educational content for children in East–Africa conveying important messages and learning to millions of children daily.

    The course is a mix between theory and practice. You will get a broad introduction to global development work and together with other participants, you will chose concrete development topics that you thoroughly explore and use in the animation workshop.


  • Tuition and fees

    Accommodation and meals are not included in the tuition fee

    Tuition fee: 1050 US$

    The fee does not include the cost of travels, insurance, meals, visa, accommodation or social activities such as social dinner or weekend trips.

    Accommodation is 15 US$ pr. day including three meals.
