Do you want to seek readmission or reenrolment at a study programme?

If you have formerly been enrolled in a study programme and you want to continue the same programme, please note that there are specific procedures and deadlines for applying, depending on how much of the programme you have completed.

If you have formerly been enrolled in a study programme and you want to continue the same programme, please note that there are specific procedures and deadlines for applying, depending on how much of the programme you have completed.

These guidelines apply, no matter when and at which institution you have formerly been enrolled at the same programme. There is a difference between readmission and reenrolment, both explained below.

Please note that you cannot apply for readmission at a study programme earlier than 5 month after you have withdrawn yourself from the programme.

Readmission

You must apply for readmission, if you wish to enroll at the same study programme and you withdrew yourself from the programme before having passed the 1st year (2 semesters).

Apply for readmission through optagelse.dk. Please note the deadline for applying is 15 March at 12.00 noon.

Reenrolment

If you have withdrawn yourself from the study programme after having passed the 1st year (2 semesters) and you wish to enrol in the programme again in the same educational institution, you must apply for reenrolment.

It is essential that you have passed the 1st year (2 semesters) of the study programme, as defined in the study guide at the time you apply for reenrolment.

If you want to apply for reenrolment, you must fill in a reenrolment form. You can find the form here (pdf)

In order to guarantee that we can process your application in due time, you must apply no later than 2 months before you want to begin the study programme. If you are not able to meet the deadline, please contact Student Services to apply for dispensation from the time limit.

You must have improved your ability to complete the programme considerably

If your former enrolment was terminated by the educational institution, your ability to complete the programme must have improved considerably. The study programme will decide whether or not your abilities have improved sufficiently, based on the information and documentation that you provide.

This assessment will only take place if your enrolment was (or could have been) terminated due to one or more of the following:
  • Because you did not pass the study start test
  • Because you had used all examination attempts
  • Because you did not participate in or did not pass the 1st year test
  • Because you did not meet the requirements for active participation in your studies
  • Because you are not able to complete the programme due to the rules and regulations in the programme

Deadline for completing your study programme

There is a maximum time limit for completing a study programme regulated by law. The limit for most bachelor's programmes is between 5 ½ and 6 years. If you exceed this limit when applying for readmission, you must contact Student Services in order to apply for a dispensation from the limit. The same applies if you know you will somehow meet this limit during the study programme.

You can calculate when you will meet the limit of your study programme. The duration of the study is counted from the first time you are enrolled in the programme to the day you complete it. The only things that automatically are deducted are maternity leave or adoption (52 weeks), compulsory military service, or Foreign Service on similar terms, or having been enrolled in a study programme with Foreign Service on compulsory military terms as the objective.

Questions?

We recommend you contact Student Services or a student counsellor, if you wish to apply for readmission to VIA University College. Determining whether formerly passed exams are transferable or the consequences of reaching the limit for duration of studies by reenrolment can be difficult.

They will also be able to help you with any questions regarding the procedures for readmission or reenrollment.

Legislative framework

Readmission and reenrolment is regulated in accordance with Executive Order 152 of 26 February 2020 regarding admission to Academy Profession Programmes and Professional Bachelor Programmes §§ 33-36
