Main purpose

Knowledge

The purpose of the course is to give the participants an understanding of construction techniques and production methods as well acquire knowledge about typical materials used in the building industry.

Skills

After the course, the participants should have an understanding and knowledge of the fabrication and construction processes involved in the practical construction of smaller (industrial) buildings through excursions.

PWS1.1 Steel factory (Grædstrup Stål)
PWS1.2 Timber factory (Palgaard)
PWS1.3 Insulation company (Leca)
PWS1.4 Insulation company (Isover)
PWS1.5 Building knowledge (Byggecentrum)
PWS1.6 Building site visit
PWS1.7 Visit and story about Fjordenhus, Vejle
PWS1.8 Model workshop at VIA
 
Report
Students must hand in a report for every single excursions and company visit.
 
Tools and methods learned in the model workshop will be used as a part of the semester project on 1st semester.

Evaluation

Examination

The course is evaluated on the basis of participation in the following topics together with reporting of each of the activities. In order to pass the course, the students must participate in 90% of the study activities.
