Main purpose

Knowledge

Through theoretical and practical workshops:
• To provide the students with an understanding of welding and the different welding methods.
• To acquire knowledge of different assembly methods, fittings and technical installations within heating and water.
• To acquire knowledge about 3D planning and drawing of building services

Skills

After the completion of the course, the student must:
• Be able to know the difference between the welding methods, weaknesses and strengths and have knowledge of the working environment.
• Be able to have knowledge about the technical installations within heating and water.
• Be able to apply the Software MagiCad for designing and planning building services and perform coalition control and subtract amounts of materials for ex. Pricing.

Competences

Topics

Welding:
• Environment: § 26 (only partly about welding and grinding)
• Introduction to different welding methods, CO2, Electrode, Tig. and A-measuring
• Assignment: Welding with different materials and methods etc. (group work).
 
Building services:
• Information about different materials, used for building services, such as galvanized pipes and copper press fittings, cutting threads – manually and mechanically
• The joints of fittings and sealing of fittings with yarn and jointing compound, including the use of special machinery for press fittings
• Through workshop activities, the students mount heating and water on workstations in accordance to detail drawings.
• Evaluation: The advantages and the disadvantages of the different assemblies and materials
 
3D BIM modellering:
• Apply MagiCad software to design and plan building services, perform coalition control and subtract amounts of materials for ex. pricing.

Teaching methods and study activities

The course is conducted over a 5-days-period, which is equivalent to 45 working hours for each student.

Evaluation

Examination

The course is evaluated on the basis of participation in the following topics together with reporting of each of the activities. In order to pass the course, the students must participate in 90% of the study activities.
