Prerequisites
Main purpose
The purpose of the workshop is to give the students an introduction to the open-source GIS program called QGIS.
The workshop enables the student to operate in the program, solve basic tasks, and give them the knowledge and tools they need to develop their skills further.
Knowledge
After completion of the course, the student must have obtained an insight into the QGIS program and its different commands and possibilities.
The course must enable the student to insert data from an excel spread sheet, as well as use data from web services, and create their own layers. In addition, the workshop enables the student to create a map visualize the data.
Skills
After completion of the course, the student must:
• Be able to use the different commands in the QGIS program.
• Be able to insert data from an excel spread sheet.
• Be able to create their own layers and maps.
• Have obtained understanding of the webservices and know how to use them in the QGIS program.
Competences
After completion of the course, the student will be able to use QGIS.
Topics
Teaching methods and study activities
1 week of work for the student.
Activities during the course are lectures, exercises, self-study, and a presentation.

The course is assessed based on participation as well as a presentation for each other in groups.
