Prerequisites
Main purpose
The main purpose of this workshop is to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed for effective water sampling procedures, with a focus on safe and best practices in the water industry and environmental contexts.
Knowledge
After the course, students gain insight into water sampling methods for different physical/chemical and microbiological parameters, knowledge of safety procedures, best practices in sampling, lab work, and evaluation of sampling results for different parameters.
Skills
After completion of the course, the student must be able to:
- apply various water sampling techniques effectively.
- demonstrate proficiency in using specialized sampling equipment.
- collect samples for and measure key parameters with precision.
- communicate findings in relevant figures/tables.
Competences
After completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- plan and conduct water sampling activities effectively for different physical/chemical and microbiological parameters.
- accurately interpret collected data.
- systematically document the processes and results of sampling.
- evaluate analyses results in relation to legislations.
Topics
Workshop will cover the following topics:
- sampling strategies
- measurement of various parameters accurately
- Field trip
- following the proper procedure for sample collection and ensuring safe transport to an accredited laboratory
- documentation for the collected samples
- strategy for sampling plan
- evaluation of sampling results
Teaching methods and study activities
One week of work for the student.
Activities during the course are lectures, theory, exercises, evaluation of results and self-study.
