Prerequisites

General admission requirements.

Main purpose

Climate changes are one of our biggest agendas in the world today. In this course you will work with climate and climate changes and sustainable energy systems. We will take two approaches; climate change adaption and mitigation.
 
The course provides an introduction to the theory behind climate and climate change, as well as how we can act on reducing the greenhouse effect and counteracting climate change.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the course, the student have gained knowledge of:
• Climate and weather systems
• Climate changes and impacts on society and the utility sector
• Climate change adaptions and mitigations
• Sustainable Urban Development
• Sustainable energy systems

Skills

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
• Recognize and discuss the different contributions to climate changes
• Identify suitable processes for handling surface water
• Propose CO2 neutral energy sources

Competences

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to apply knowledge and skills to:
• Engage in discussions on climate and climate change at a qualified level
• Evaluate and suggest solutions for sustainable urban drainage
• Evaluate and suggest sustainable energy sources

Topics

Teaching methods and study activities

​The teaching style is based on the theories of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and the activities are a mixture of lectures, collection of data and analysis of data, field work, report writing, discussions in groups assisted by the lecturer, presentations, self-study, homework assignments.

Evaluation

Examination

Prerequisites:
Mandatory assignments handed in before deadline and accepted.

Type of examination:
Ongoing assessment of 3 assignments during the semester and a final exam in the form of a written test, each weighing 25%.
Internal assessment.

Allowed tools:
NA

Re-exam:
Individual oral examination with internal assessment.

Grading criteria

Grading based on the Danish 7 point scale.
