Within the research area of pedagogy and Bildung, we have a strong focus on pedagogy, Bildung and professional research. Our research is rooted in concrete challenges within education and professional practice and is developed in close collaboration with those who work in and with the welfare professions. Our research advances key areas of society such as daycare, school and leisure, special education, youth education, and professional bachelor programmes.

Within the research area of health and society, we generate knowledge that strengthens the integrated healthcare system and social initiatives in society. Our research addresses current issues within care and treatment, health promotion, prevention, rehabilitation, vulnerability, technology and leadership. We integrate perspectives from health sciences, social sciences and societal studies to create profession‑oriented research with a clear impact on practice, education and society.

Within the research area of technology and business, our research and development create concrete solutions that benefit industry and society. From the development of new technologies in the film and media sector to biogenic building materials and the optimisation of the utility sector within drinking water and energy. We contribute to the sustainable transition of the textile, lifestyle and construction industries, while working within a broad ESG framework.
