Research Centre for Community-based Care

The Centre’s research contributes knowledge on healthcare interventions that are closely connected to citizens’ everyday lives, relating to health, nursing, dignified care and support, as well as diagnostics and home-based treatment. We work across professional disciplines with a focus on coordinated interventions and continuity within the healthcare system, including identifying needs and methods for supporting a high level of knowledge and expertise among healthcare professionals throughout the healthcare sector.

The Centre’s work

  • Our research places a particular emphasis on developing new knowledge that supports the quality of healthcare services in community-based healthcare, addressing the needs arising from ongoing developments in the sector. In this context, community-based healthcare is defined as encompassing general practice, specialist medical practices, municipal services, civil society organisations, healthcare centres, and the transition from hospital-based treatment to high-quality healthcare services delivered in citizens’ own homes.

Our research is practice-oriented and grounded in a fundamental commitment to close collaboration with practitioners, citizens, and family caregivers throughout the research process, thereby ensuring the relevance of our research to practice.

We are an interprofessional team representing a range of professional perspectives and scientific competencies, which is reflected in the research projects undertaken within the Centre. The close connection between our staff and VIA’s educational programmes strengthens the translation and integration of knowledge into education and training.
