About the Head - Heart - Hands exchange programme

    During the semester in Head - Heart - Hands you will increase your capabilities for social education work. You will develop skills to carry out social education work and use creative subjects as a method in social education work.

    The overall aim in this semester is to work on improving creativity and aesthetic learning methods and living conditions by means of innovative processes and solutions.

    The programme alternates between the following three areas:

    • Theories and methodology of social education.
    • Creative subjects, e.g. drama, music, movement, arts and crafts.
    • Field work and field studies.

    Three Modules

    In English conducted module, Head - Heart - Hands, consists of three parts: 1, 2 and 3 correlating the Module 9, first placement and module 5 in the Danish curriculum.

    • Module 1 - Creative Expression - 10 ECTS
    • Module 2 - Placement - 10 ECTS
    • Module 3 - Co-creation and Citizenship - 10 ECTS

    Evaluation

    The evaluation of the semester is graded by 'Approved' or 'Not approved', based on the student's active participation and two-three compulsory assignments for each module. 

  • The minimum requirement to apply for the course, is to have passed the first two semesters at bachelor’s level at your relevant university or another institute of higher education.

    With regards to language proficiency, it is required to have an English level, spoken and written, equivalent to B2, according to the Common European Framework.

    A maximum of 30 students will be admitted per semester.

  • Your home institution must have an inter-institutional agreement with the department in question at VIA University College in order for you to be able to apply for this exchange programme at VIA.

    If an agreement exists, you will be able to fill in the application form. Please be aware that VIA must receive a nomination from your home institution as well.

    You are going to upload a motivational letter in the application. Please elaborate why you choose the Head-Heart-Hands exchange programme, what educational benefits you wish to gain from joining this particular programme and how this is connected to your home education - and maybe your dreams in your future profession.

  • Exchange students do not pay tuition fees.

    Per definition, exchange stays are an exchange of one or more students between partner universities and therefore, exchange students do not pay tuition fees.
