I’m extremely happy with the GNH study programme! The combination between theory and practice is well-balanced, and it facilitates the growth in you as a person.
Why I’m studying Global Nutrition and Health
When I first read the curriculum for GNH, I was mind blown about how much the programme helps you to become a better person. It is a programme that facilitates the growth of you as a person because it wants you to use your knowledge from the lectures in the real world.
The programme is very diverse within the lectures and the knowledge, and it is a great combination of natural science and human science.
My studies facilitates my sustainability work
As a part of my study I’m working at a community garden called Gallo Gartneriet in Risskov where I help produce sustainable and local food production. For instance I’m picking up coffee grounds from local coffee shops and I bring it to the community garden where I’m making compost out of it amongst other recycled materials.
In this way I’m using my knowledge from GNH to make a difference in the real world.
My hopes and dreams for the future
Even though I like making compost and dig in the soil, I also want to teach other people how important it is to make compost and do sustainable food production. That’s why I want to start my own business that will be a sustainability consultancy. But because I don’t have the resources right now to start the consultancy, I’m in the process of starting my own NGO that will focus on collecting coffee grounds from local cafeterias and then using them at local community gardens where they will be used in sustainable food production.
My advice
- Allow yourself to question things that you don’t find right, and try to find the bravery and strength to change it.
- Try to use the teachers at VIA as consultants as they are experts on the areas you find interesting.
