On October 2nd, representatives from Tianjin Chengjian University and vice-rector, Konstantin Lassithiotakis, signed a bilateral agreement at VIA Campus Horsens.

Among other things, Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) focuses on study programmes within construction and civil engineering. Therefore, the Architectural Technology and Construction Management programme at VIA has entered into an agreement that will make a Joint Degree and Double Diploma possible.

VIA and TCU have collaborated since 2002, and the collaboration has become more extensive during the last couple of years. Indeed, 75 students from VIA have participated in workshops at ITU and several have written their final project at TCU.

Many Chinese students have also visited VIA Campus Horsens – both in terms of workshops and as exchange students.

More and larger than the rest of the world

It is a great experience for the students to visit China, as they build more and larger than any place in the world, Head of the Architectural Technology and Construction Management programme, Laurids Green, explains and continues:

“When the students arrive in China, they experience a cultural clash when it comes to the way of life and the way they construct. This can help them prepare to work internationally in the future, which many are counting on”.

Laurids Green hopes that the bilateral agreement will encourage more students from the Architectural Technology and Construction Management programme to spend their work placement period in China.
