Today, Andrzej’s journey has taken him across Europe – and back to Denmark, where he is about to join Amgen in Copenhagen as a Senior Modelling and Simulation Engineer in the biotech sector.
“Studying at VIA gave me much more than a degree – it gave me an international mindset, a strong professional network and the courage to keep pushing my career forward.”
Why Denmark made the difference
For Andrzej, Denmark stood out as a hub for engineering knowledge and innovation. The country’s strong industry connections and international environment made it an ideal place to begin building a career. That decision quickly proved to be life-changing.
An internship that opened doors
During his studies, a six-month internship – an integrated part of VIA’s programme – became a turning point. At Dansk Ingeniør Service [Danish Engineering Services], Andrzej was trusted with real responsibilities and treated as part of the team. The experience not only sharpened his technical skills but also helped him build a professional network and confidence that would shape his future choices.
“After the internship I was kept on as a student assistant, and later as a part-time project engineer, all the way through my Master’s studies. Beyond the professional growth, DIS is also where I met people I still keep in touch with today – some of them have become life-long friends, which I think says a lot about the kind of workplace and culture VIA students get exposed to in Denmark. That first opportunity at VIA opened the door to everything that followed,” Andrzej says.
A career across Europe
After graduating from VIA in 2018, Andrzej continued his education with a Master’s degree at Aalborg University, before launching an international career across multiple industries. He worked with advanced engineering solutions in wind energy in Denmark, developed next-generation electric motors in Belgium, and later contributed to aerospace innovation in Poland.
Alongside his career, he co-founded SimulaX Engineering, a consultancy supporting companies with advanced simulation and optimisation.
Engineering with impact
Today, Andrzej combines his entrepreneurial work with his new role at Amgen, where he develops simulation models for drug delivery devices – bringing engineering knowledge directly into healthcare innovation.
What still defines his approach is what he learned in Denmark: a trust-based working culture, flat hierarchies and strong collaboration across disciplines and cultures.
Advice for future students
He believes studying is about much more than lectures and exams – it is about growth, curiosity and taking initiative.
“Be proactive, be curious and don’t be afraid to fail. Focus on learning – the results will come.”
Looking back, Andrzej describes studying in Denmark as a life-changing experience – one that opened doors to international opportunities and a meaningful career.
His advice is simple: take the leap, embrace the unknown and invest in skills that will grow with you.
My inspirations
There is nothing more inspirational to me than other people – their stories, thoughts and competences. I have been lucky to meet many wonderful human beings, many of them at VIA, at Aalborg University and at every workplace since. They have had a major impact on my personal and professional development. Finding role models in them helped me to define my ambitions, goals and the kind of engineer and leader I want to be. Today, mentoring others and giving back the same support I once received is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
