Do you want to apply for readmission or reenrolment to a study programme?

If you have formerly been enrolled in a study programme and you want to get reenroled or readmitted to the same programme, there are specific procedures and deadlines for applying, depending on how much of the programme you have completed.

These specific procedures and deadlines apply, no matter when and at which institution you have formerly been enrolled. There is a difference between readmission and reenrolment, both explained below.

It is important for you to know that you cannot apply for re-admission at a study programme if there are less than 5 months between your withdrawal date and the new study start date.

Readmission

You must apply for readmission, if you wish to enroll in a study programme where you have not passed the 1st year (2 semesters).

Apply for readmission through optagelse.dk. Deadline for applying is 15 March at 12.00 noon.

Reenrolment

If you have withdrawn from a study programme after having passed at least the 1st year (2 semesters) and you wish to re-enrol in the study programme at the same educational institution, you must apply for reenrolment.

You can submit your application along with relevant documentation here!

To proceed to the application form, you need to log in with MitID. If the form opens in Danish, you can change to English at the top right corner of the form.

If you have any questions about the application process you can write to studieservice.optag@via.dk or contact Student Services at campus for help.

To guarantee that we are able to process your application in due time, you must apply no later than 2 months before the study programme starts. If you are not able to meet the deadline, please contact Student Services to apply for dispensation from the time limit.

You must have improved your ability to complete the programme considerably

If your former enrolment was terminated by the educational institution, you must prove/document that your ability to complete the programme has improved considerably. The study programme will decide if they find that your abilities have improved sufficiently, based on the information and documentation that have provided.

This assessment will only take place if your enrolment was (or could have been) terminated due to one or more of the following:

  • Because you did not pass the study start test
  • Because you had used all examination attempts
  • Because you did not participate in or did not pass the 1st year test
  • Because you did not meet the requirements for active participation in your studies
  • Because you are not able to complete the programme due to the rules and regulations in the programme

Complete your study programme within the time limit

It is regulated by Law when a programme must be completed. The maximum time limit for the majority of bachelor's programmes is between 5 ½ and 6 years.

The duration of the study is counted from the first time you were enrolled on the programme to the day you complete it. Maternity leave or adoption (52 weeks) or periods of compulsory military service, or Foreign Service on similar terms are automatically deducted.

If you exceed the limit at the time of reenrolment or readmission, or if you will not be able to complete the programme within the remaining time limit, we will automatically extend the length of study provided that you meet the terms for reenrolment or readmission.

Questions?

We recommend you contact a student counsellor, if you wish to apply for admission to VIA University College. Determining whether formerly passed exams are transferable or the consequences of reaching the limit for duration of studies by reenrolment can be difficult.
