  • Facts

    Title: Outdoor Play & Learning

    Duration of the programme: 1 semester (30 ECTS) Semester start – semester end: 17 August 2020 – 18 December 2020

    Application deadline: 1 May

    Language: The programme is taught in English.

  • Structure and content

    During the programme, participants will work both theoretically and practically.

    The programme focuses on how people of all ages and levels of development can benefit from outdoor life and activities. Playing and learning in a social-education context that supports personal development and cooperation.

    During the programme, participants will work theoretically as well as practically, learning and experiencing, reflecting, discussing and practicing together.

    Fieldwork during the programme

    During fieldwork, you will have the opportunity to practice and develop your skills in collaboration with local schools or partner institutions.

    Variety of target groups

    Your participation in Outdoor Play & Learning will increase your capabilities for social care work within many target groups.

    You will develop skills to carry out social care work and use outdoor play and learning as methods within social-education work.

  • Enrolment

    The semester modules are open to both International and Danish students.

    The minimum requirement to apply for the course, is to have passed the first two semesters at bachelor’s level at your relevant university or another institute of higher education.

    With regards to language proficiency, it is required to have an English level, spoken and written, equivalent to B2, according to the Common European Framework.

    Who can apply?

    Anyone from a partner university is welcome to apply, but the programme is designed for students of  teacher education, social work and/or health and outdoor activities.

  • How to apply

    You must apply through our application system 

    Your home institution must have an inter-institutional agreement with VIA University College in order for you to be able to apply for an exchange programme at VIA.

    If an agreement exists, you will be able to fill in the application form. Please be aware that VIA must receive a nomination from your home institution as well.

  • Fees and tuition

    Exchange students from institutions with a bilateral partner agreement do not have to pay tuition fees

    Exchange students from institutions with a bilateral partner agreement do not pay tuition fees.

    If you are studying at an institution with a bilateral partner agreement with VIA University College, your participation in the exchange programme is tuition-free.
