  • Content

This summer, 2018, VIA Film and Transmedia are offering a unique summer school adventure in the very centre of Aarhus, entitled Fairy Tale Photography. The summer school is offered in close collaboration with Aarhus University and Aarhus Academy 2017.

Fairy Tale Photography is a genre that has gained global popularity, as both fine art and commercial.

During the summer school, you will work with technical grips regarding camera, light and staging. This, combined with a practical yet theoretical presentation of the area, will enable you to work further within the genre, including as a professional.

Taking place in the city’s beautiful forest and beach areas and in our advanced LED studio in Aarhus Film City, we promise a creative learning experience. The summer school will inspire you to develop your skills, and will introduce you to a new network. It is also a chance to experience the very attractive student city of Aarhus, and a unique opportunity to sample VIA’s internationally recognised four-month course “Film and Transmedia Storytelling – The Fashion Experience”, for which this summer school is a good precursor.

Course Coordinator: Thomas Erland Pedersen will coordinate the course. He will also be teaching alongside industry professionals.

Content: The summer school course is focused around two major photo shoots, one for each week, arranged as an indoor and an outdoor shoot.

Storytelling: Presentation and analysis of how successful photographers create their fairy-tale style and universes. Concept development and location scouting.

Technical exercises: Camera and lighting exercises, with special focus on the possibilities in indoor and outdoor shoots.

Fairy tale photography shoots: Preproduction, production and postproduction of two fairy tale photography shoots with models. Production design, styling and props. Directing and editing.

Exhibition: An exhibition of the created works will round off the summer school
