  • Preliminary Programme

The focus of the programme will be on climate change adaptation, wastewater and drinking water

    Camp contents

The focus of the camp will be on climate change adaptation, wastewater and drinking water. The task and lectures included in the camp course programme will be in line with the six official themes  announced by the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition.

As a camp participant, you will learn about the current world-wide challenges related to water resources and climate change adaption, and explore and discuss the possible solutions presented at the congress.

You will also learn to navigate at a large congress and how to gather and share knowledge from presentations, posters etc.

The camp programme will include tasks that requires that you explore the many events at the congress, as well as lectures for camp participants only.  The camp will be run by a team of camp teachers, all specialised in drinking water, wastewater and climate change adaption.

    Course programme

Each day at the camp will be initiated by a morning gathering immediately after breakfast. The purpose of these gatherings is to create the theoretical basis for the Task-of-the-Day. Task-of-the-day will be in line with one of the focal themes; wastewater, drinking water or climate change adaption.

After receiving task instructions, the camp participants will walk to the conference center to absorb the exciting atmosphere of 10,000 water professionals and to perform the task in small groups.

The tasks will imply that you and your fellow course participants interact with the different events at the congress, such as attending platform presentation, poster sessions, talk to the presenters etc. and thereby gathering information needed to solve the Task-of-the-Day.

In addition to the congress events, the camp programme will also include lectures specifically for the camp participants. These lectures are arranged by the camp teachers, and will cover wastewater, drinking water or climate change adaption.

In the evenings, participants will gather for “Philosophers’ Hour” in which we reflect on the experiences of the day and ask the big questions about what it all means. By the end of the camp, you will have gained insight into the current world challenges related to water resources and knowledge about applied drinking water, wastewater and climate change adaption solutions.

    Technical tours & Social events

In addition to the course activities, the camp will also include technical tours in the surrounding area. We will visit a water utility, a consultancy and areas of the city where solutions for climate change adaption have been implemented.

There will also be arranged career talks with the purpose of highlighting several different types of jobs that are found in the water industry.

Furthermore, the camp programme includes social activities to enhance a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Sunday afternoon will be spend on “ice-breaking” games and other informal activities, giving you the opportunity to socialise with your fellow camp participants.

On Wednesday, we will have an outing to the world-renown amusement part “Tivoli” in the hearth of Copenhagen and on Thursday a festive dinner before we say goodbye Friday morning.
