Edwin went to summer school and brought back new perspectives

26-year-old social work student Edwin Bold from Germany, wanted to get a study abroad experience and avoid a large course at his home university, so he joined the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Co Creation summer school at VIA.

At summer school, Edwin and his fellow students learnt the basics of the UN’s 17 goals for sustainable development. After the introduction, students split up into groups and were assigned a local partner/business/organisation, who had issues which the students helped come up with solutions for using the 17 SDGs. Edwins group worked with a social café employing e.g. people with disabilities and people on parole.

Getting to know Aarhus

The German student also enjoyed the social programme which had a little bit for everyone – sports activities, food related event and cultural events. Here he got to know Aarhus from a student perspective.

For Edwin, the best thing about the summer summer school were all the new people he met from all over the world, which gave him new perspectives on his daily life back in Germany.
