Why Denmark?
I lived in Denmark for a couple of years when I was younger and always wanted to come back and study here. As I got older, I also just wanted to try something new and challenge myself.
What was the biggest challenge?
In the beginning, it was hard to be alone and not know anyone, especially during covid-19. However, when I settled more in and got to know more people, it was great.
Did you take an internship?
I will take an internship next semester in August 2022. I have gotten a position in Silkeborg Forsyning (public water supply in the city of Silkeborg) to work in their drinking water and wastewater department. I am really excited to put my knowledge from studying to work in real life.
Really just do it! You will definitely not regret it. It is going to be a great experience. Eygló Auðbjörnsdóttir
What is the best thing about living and studying in Denmark and at VIA?
The student life is great and so is the study environment. VIA takes very good care of new students, makes them feel welcome and the teachers are also very open and always ready to help. Also, the structure of the programme is good. For example, my programme really emphasizes to work with real life problems, therefore we know how it is to work as a supply engineer and that prepares us really well for the job market.
Living here is also great and there are many opportunities available related to your interests. For me, I am really into sports, and I was actually able to try many new and different sports when I moved here.
My ambitions
I want to stay in Denmark after my studies. Because I really enjoy living here but also because there are more possibilities for work in my field of education.
However, in the future I would also love to work abroad. I would like to bring my knowledge and skills to less developed countries and hopefully make a difference.
