My educational programme
I have chosen this education because I wanted the best of two worlds - engineering and business. Growing up with parents working in the engineering industry and an older brother with his own HR company, I found both programmes extremely interesting and simply could not choose one or the other. Furthermore, coming from a language high school, I had already studied languages and culture intensively and wanted to find a programme which could build upon my existing knowledge. Therefore, Global Business Engineering (GBE) was the perfect match for me and my various interests.
My specialisation
I chose a specialisation in Mechanical Engineering because I have always loved dealing with specific sciences like maths and physics. Courses such as Materials of Mechanics and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) caught my eye with their well-structured and understandable, technical topics. Other courses covered Renewable Energy Production, which I saw as a fast-growing industry in Denmark currently looking for ‘fresh’ minds.
My job
Today, I work as an Engineering Manager for Documentation (also called Process Engineer) in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. I am basically putting together a puzzle - the result of my work will tell you how to assemble an offshore turbine. By working closely with the Engineering and Construction teams in the company, my team makes sure that our technicians are instructed in how to perform the work safely and up to a certain quality and standards. My work includes also visits to pre-assembly sites of local and international projects, where I receive direct feedback from the technicians and observe the exciting process of installing a turbine.
What I like about my job
What keeps me going is that I know I am making a difference every day, and in a company, whose values I believe in. This is my very personal drive. Besides that, the job comes with such exciting experiences - sailing on a vessel, climbing to the top of a turbine and observing the vast sea and breathtaking (and intimidating due to the height) views.

And in the office, I get to interact with my brilliant colleagues, from which I have learned so much, not only about the industry but also about culture, leadership and self-care.
Important lessons from my studies
The best lesson from my time at Global Business Engineering has been how to build bridges. Not ones made out of concrete and steel between two banks, but bridges between cultures between specialists in different areas and between managers and engineers. In today’s world of information and communication, it is crucial to be able to deliver an understandable message without losing the meaning, and find a result for everyone. That is what I believe makes this education and the professional realisation afterwards so different to any other discipline.
My advice
- There is a place for everyone! GBE offers such diverse courses and electives that you would definitely find what you are looking for. Based on this, GBEs can enter any industry after graduation.
- Learning basics in Mechanical and IT Engineering in the first few semesters gives you an edge in front of any other programme.
