Motivational Video Introduction for the Software Technology Engineering programme

We require applicants to submit a video displaying your motivations for applying to the Software Technology Engineering study programme at VIA.

Your motivational video should represent you academic as well as your motivation for entering the programme.

To document that you fulfil the admission requirements, you have to submit your exam papers and the like. On top of that, we ask you to submit a 3-minute motivational video. We are looking for applicants who are able to communicate and applicants who are highly motivated for this specific programme.

Video introduction – motivation (max 3 minutes)

In the video you must introduce yourself. We must be able to see you clearly during the video. It is your responsibility that we can open and see the video clearly.

Here are some suggestions for topics to cover (please do not feel obligated to include all of them or to limit yourself to these):

  • Why do you want to study this specific programme? What do you know about the programme, and have you taken part in information events at VIA?
  • How do you see your future as a graduate within the profession? What kind of job do you imagine having as a graduate from this programme?
  • What elements of the programme are you especially looking forward to studying?
  • How do you see your own strengths and weaknesses in relation to entering a study programme based on problem-based learning?
  • What are your reflections on working closely with other students on common projects?
  • Tell us about any relevant experience you may have e.g. work or study. Anything from paid work to passion projects is relevant.

When reviewing the video, we will look at your ability to communicate succinctly and clearly about who you are and how you see yourself profiting from this study programme.

We will not be judging the video based on image or sound quality, editing or other technical aspects – as long as you are in the frame all the time and we can hear what you are saying. The purpose is rather to get a feel of who you are and what motivates you. Feel free to record the video with your phone, a web camera or whatever else is easily accessible to you.

We recommend uploading to an external site like YouTube or Vimeo – mark it as “hidden” if you do not want anyone but us to see it. Dropbox, Google Drive, and similar file sharing services that require sign up to view the files are not allowed.

Please place the link in a separate document named “motivational video” and upload the document at Optagelse.dk no later than 15 March at 12 noon.

Remember to test that it works before submitting your application! If we cannot access the video, then you will not get credit for it on your application.
