Inter-professional Collaboration (5 ECTS)
In this unit, you will learn about:
- Collaborative approaches to identify health trends related to the complexity and increasing diversity of the healthcare in a global community
- The roles, responsibilities and perspectives of various professions in the healthcare team (including your own) and how these roles, responsibilities and perspectives interrelate with health and social care professionals
- Inter-professional working such as collaborating with other social and health professionals in teams, including the patient, family and community to plan continuity of care /services across the different sectors to enhance health outcomes in the hospital and community settings.
Nursing Leadership, management of the chronically ill, and community nursing (10 ECTS)
In this unit you will learn about:
- The complexity of diseases related to lifestyle and living conditions such as chronic illness and how it impacts on the individual living with a chronic illness, their families/caregivers, healthcare team as well as healthcare delivery systems
- Health informatics, with focus on e-health, welfare technologies and innovation to meet the health and social needs of the chronically ill in the community
- Risk factors, risk management and health promotion/prevention strategies to promote optimal independence and quality outcomes to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation will be covered.
Nursing Leadership and management of the acutely ill (15 ECTS)
In this unit you will learn about:
- Principles of quality use and safety of medicine in nursing practice
- Ways to develop a systematic body of knowledge that informs your problem solving capabilities, skill development in clinical decision making to provide safe effective care for individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds in acute care settings
- Nursing leadership and management of the individual person with an acute episodic illness and select evidence based interventions to manage acute illness
- Management in organizations, healthcare quality and safety, standards of quality, co-ordination of care with individual people, patients, family, health and social care professionals across the different sectors in healthcare.
