The project
I participated in a cross-atlantic film project with the aim of proving that it is possible to make films across borders and independent from geographical placement. The times we live in are in constant development and therefore it is possible to co-create without being in the same physical room. This provides a lot of new options.
We worked together with Canadian Capilano University in Vancouver on creating films with sustainability as the overall theme. The planning and coordination took place online. My group had four students and I was primarily responsible for production and editing. Because we were only four in the group, I also had other roles - sound technician, camera operator and sound designer. We of course also all had the important task of providing support for each other in the group, as the project was also about creating a network.
The most important take away from the project for me was an international network, as well as understanding of the culture and working methods of other countries Oscar Sten Jørgensen
What I learned
The most important take away from the project for me was an international network, as well as understanding of the culture and working methods of other countries, which, in a future perspective, makes it easier to work with people from other cultures. After participating in this project, it is now less scary to dive into other international projects.
It was really awesome to get to know some new people and challenge yourself creatively. I can only encourage others to dive into similar projects. There is nothing better than challenging yourself while working in an environment where failing is okay.
Why participate in international activities?
Why stick to your safe-zone? My recommendation is: Test yourself, dive into the unknown, and remember that it is now, during your studies, that you have the opportunity to play around and test yourself. You are at a place in your life with room for play - like a playground. It would be boring just to sit on a bench at the playground without using the swings or the slide. Test yourself and learn from the process. Be present, then the product will also be satisfying - also if it ends up being something else than you expected.
