Main purpose

The purpose of the course is to give the student insight into the basic methods and theory used for simple land surveying and setting out. The course must enable the student to plan and execute simple land surveying and setting out projects.

Knowledge

After completion of the course, the student must have obtained an insight into the basic methods and theory used for simple land surveying and setting out. The course must enable the student to plan and execute simple land surveying and setting out projects.

Skills

After completion of the course, the student must:
• Be able to plan and perform simple surveying assignments by use of a levelling instruments and RTK GNSS.
• Be able to perform quality control and measuring in general with RTK GNSS and levelling instrument.
• Be able to make geometric levelling 
• Have obtained understanding of the basic principles within GPS and must be able to measure and market on this basis.

Competences

Use RTK GNSS and a levelling instrument.

The following topics will be presented in the course:
• Geometrical levelling
• Control of an levellinginstrument
• Measuring and setting out with RTK GNNS
• Reference systems

Teaching methods and study activities

1 week of work for the student. Activities during the course are lectures, theory, fieldwork, exercises and self-study.

Examination

The course is evaluated on the basis of participation in the listed topics and reporting of individual activities.
Study activity, which count 120 %
Final Assignment handed in at time and approved, which count 80 %
80 % of the overall criteria must be fulfilled
