  • Our world and society depend on people who choose to study engineering. Engineers are trained to invent, explore and develop solutions that improve our current way of life and help shape the future.

    Engineers typically work within areas such as planning, construction, consultancy, production, process management and optimisation. With an engineering degree from VIA, you can, for example, work with sustainability and climate solutions, machinery or software.

  • In Denmark, you can take a Bachelor of Engineering degree and start your career from there or chose to study further and take a Master of Science in Engineering.

    VIA offers Bachelor of Engineering degrees. Our programmes combine theory with practical experience and typically takes 3.5 years to complete (except Global Business Engineering, which takes 4.5 years). All engineering programmes include compulsory internships of 20 weeks. After finishing your Bachelor of Engineering, you can continue with your studies at universities in Denmark or abroad and take a 2-year Master's degree.

  • There are many different types of engineers, so it is important to consider your interests and how you want to make an impact in the future.

    For instance, if you are interested in climate adaption and utility supply, Climate and Supply Engineering might be a great fit for you. If you want to combine climate knowledge with business and technology, Global Business Engineering specialised in sustainable transition could be the right choice.

    If you are interested in programming and digital technologies, a degree in software engineering may be ideal. At VIA you have three different options for specialising in the software field - The broad Software Technology Engineering programme, Cybersecurity or Software Engineering specialised in XR.

    If you prefer working with your hands and is interested in technology and machinery, you could consider Mechanical Engineering.

  • In Denmark (and internationally as well) engineering is a field with very low unemployment rates. This means that your chances of securing employment after graduation are very high.

    However, demand varies between different engineering specialisations, so it is recommended to explore job prospects within your chosen field.

  • Salary can be an important factor when choosing a study programme. Engineers typically enjoy a high and stable income, and engineering degrees are often ranked among those leading to the highest lifetime earnings.

    According to the Danish Society of Engineers (IDA), the average starting salary for a Bachelor of Engineering in Denmark is approximately DKK 46,000 (app EUR 6200) per month including pension.
