My job
I work as an Express Designer at Only & Sons. My main responsibilities are designing collections for fast delivery with sharp trend catching and supplementing our other lines.
I do trend research, analyse the market, and take care of visuals and general creative tasks. I also communicate internally with colleagues, suppliers and juggle the many tasks of a busy day.
My ambitions
I am thrilled to be a part of the process of moving the fashion industry into a sustainable era. Working for the future and having an influence on our imprint is really something my heart beats faster for.
How did you get the job you have today?
Firstly, there were many internships on the way. Both abroad and in Denmark, I was trying different aspects of the industry, but also took chances outside of fashion.
For the job at Only & Sons, I was headhunted by a recruitment company through LinkedIn. From then on, it was just passionate work every day.
I have worked as a Pattern Designer, and after a few months an opportunity arose to change my position to Express Designer, which was very exciting.
What do you like most about your current job?
That no day is the same. I have so many opportunities to develop myself professionally and personally. Every day when I am driving to work, I am excited for what the day will bring.
The atmosphere in the office is lovely, I feel relaxed and motivated, there is a spirit of friendly competition. I also get to use my broad experience, and I’m being appreciated for what I do.
Why did you choose to study in Denmark?
After high school, I was craving an adventure and I always wanted to travel. Encouraged by my family, I started to look for different opportunities abroad, and that´s how I found VIA Design.
I am a history nerd and very fascinated with Scandinavia due to a Norwegian language course, I had attended beforehand. It was a quick and easy decision to move here.
What are the 3 best things about living and working in Denmark?
- There are a lot of great business opportunities.
- It is safe here and the standard of living is high.
- There is a straight forward and easy going style of work, where you can talk to the boss like a friend.
My advice
Chill. Many expats come with a sense of strict hierarchy in society, but you do not have to stress over it here in Denmark.
Also, take your opportunities, really grab all there is, maybe you’re not sure what you want to do at the moment, but whatever it is, it will come in handy on your path. Seize the opportunities! Denmark has much to offer.
