Exchange students at VIA’s engineering programmes must choose from the courses in the course catalogue. A semester study programme should consist of 3-4 courses and a project worth between 10 and 15 ECTS credits

You are welcome to choose courses across the engineering programmes, but please make sure you meet the academic requirements for the courses you wish to take.

    Why choose this programme

Do you want to utilize your profession solving real life problems and learn how to do it in cooperation with other professions in a truly cross-national environment VIA offers you a unique opportunity!

    Content/focus

Our focus is on obtaining durable solutions through knowledge. We do this by combining professional skills with cooperation competencies framing it all within a sustainability approach, testing the outcome through prototyping at all levels.

    Learning outcomes

During the programme, you will develop your technical skills alongside exploiting the synergy of performing in teams.  Our graduates possess an approach and methodology to solve the problems of tomorrow.

    Teaching style

Teaching is structured around class tutorials, assignments, lab exercises and workshop practice.

Classes are small in order to allow group discussions and provide individualised attention. Focus is on active, student-centred learning to develop critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Theory in classroom sessions is taught in the form of applied problem-based projects, preparing you for the working world.

    Project work

We recommend that all exchange students do a project. Project work is a way of incorporating real-life contexts into the study programmes. Typically, students work in teams of 2-4 on a problem that they would like to analyse and solve - sometimes in cooperation with a company.

Staff from the departments will assist students in forming teams and finding possible ideas for projects. All teams will be assigned one or more supervisors. These supervisors will guide students through their project work.

    Evaluation and exams

Your learning outcome will be assessed according to your performance on in-course assignments, tests, presentations and written and oral examinations. The varied assessment methods support you in developing skills which you can benefit from in your future career.

Examinations are organised as individual tests assessed by external or internal examiners. An external examiner appointed by the Danish Ministry of Education will participate in external examinations. For internal examinations, the assessment will be done by lecturers appointed by VIA University College.
