About the Business and Communication exchange programme

  • Why choose this programme

Do you want to learn how to make business decisions while studying in a multicultural environment? Do you want to develop your critical thinking and interpersonal skills in collaboration with other professions and thus enhance your employability? Then join the Global Business Engineering exchange programme.

The programme focuses on developing your marketing, economics and cross-cultural communication skills through active student-centred learning.

    Learning outcomes

During the programme, you will develop your business and communicative competences and your ability to work in multicultural teams.

    Course catalogue

You are able to put together your exchange programme by choosing courses from our course catalogue:

Course Catalogue for Global Business Engineering

The course catalogue for the following academic year is ready around 1 March.

The catalogue includes courses from our Global Business Engineering bachelors degree programme, but it is also possible to include modules from other engineering programmes such as Software Technology Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. See available modules and courses in the course catalogue above

You must have a total of at least 30 ECTS credits per semester (a maximum of 35 ECTS credits). Exchange students at VIA’s engineering programmes must choose from the courses in the course catalogue. A semester study programme should consist of 3-4 courses and a project worth between 10 and 15 ECTS credits

It is your responsibility to make sure you meet the academic requirements for the courses you wish to take.

There is a limited number of seats at all courses. The courses are also offered to full degree students at VIA University College, and some courses may fill up, so unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee that all courses will be available for exchange students.

    Teaching style

Teaching is structured around class tutorials, assignments, lab exercises and workshop practice.

Classes are small in order to allow group discussions and provide individualised attention. Focus is on active, student-centred learning to develop critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Theory in classroom sessions is taught in the form of applied problem-based projects, preparing you for the working world.

    Project work

We recommend that all exchange students do a project. Project work is a way of incorporating real-life contexts into the study programmes. Typically, students work in teams of 2-4 on a problem that they would like to analyse and solve - sometimes in cooperation with a company.

Staff from the departments will assist students in forming teams and finding possible ideas for projects. All teams will be assigned one or more supervisors. These supervisors will guide students through their project work.

    Evaluation and exams

Your learning outcome will be assessed according to your performance on in-course assignments, tests, presentations and written and oral examinations. The varied assessment methods support you in developing skills which you can benefit from in your future career.

Examinations are organised as individual tests assessed by external or internal examiners. An external examiner appointed by the Danish Ministry of Education will participate in external examinations. For internal examinations, the assessment will be done by lecturers appointed by VIA University College.

The programme is taught in English
